Department Invest in Hi tech Test Equipment

Until now Groundsman Industries have had to rely on consultants to find out exactly how much noise and vibration an operator is subjected to when using Groundsman products. On January this year Groundsman invested is some very impressive equipment which can test and analyse actual in work situations for Whole Body and Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) and Noise Exposure.

Accurate Hand Arm Vibrations are measured in a range of working by attaching a small sensor called an accelerometer at the operators handles. This sensor measures X Y Z axis vibrations over a pre-determined time frame and feeds the information into a portable meter. The meter analysis this information as it happens creating a log of time frame tests. Whole body is measured in the same manner by the use of a seat pad accelerometer.

The noise meter is equally sophisticated and portable with the ability to break the noise levels into bands and time frames. A more accurate analysis can be achieved in this manner for example to determine which category of ear defender will be most effective.

Special software enables the noise and vibration information to be loaded to a computer where automatic reports and graphs can be created and printed.
